Setophaga nigrescens

Habitat:Summers in much of the West from Southern Montana and Idaho, south to Arizona and New Mexico. Also found along the Pacific Coast from Canada through Southern California. Winters in Mexico. Inhabits lower elevation Forests, areas of Dry Scrub Oak, Juniper, Pinyon and Chaparral. Likes low brushy areas and prefers the brushy openings in Woodlands and Deciduous Forests in comparison to the inner Forests themselves.

Description:Head is striped Black and White with Black Bib. Yellow spot between Bill and Eyes. Gray Back with Black Striping, White below with Black striping on the sides. 2 White Wing Bars and White outer Tail Feathers. Male, Female and Juvenile lack Black Bib in Winter Plumage.
