Projectile points refer to any stone point used on an arrowhead, spear, or atlatl dart. Also appropriate for inclusion in the category are "erratics", or flaked shapes that wouldn't serve any functional purpose, and worked flakes and cores.
Generally Projectile points diminished in size over time, with spear and atlatl points being larger than later period arrowheads. Common materials include obsidian, which was available locally in the San Francisco Volcanic Field, and chert, also sourced locally from the Kaibab Limestone.
