Plaque for a 1943 Navy transport plane crash that killed 6. A Douglas R4D Skytrain (DC-3 equivalent). I was unaware of this one previously. Crashed on January 21 and wasn't found until May. Not a ton of easily found info, but was headed from Kansas City to San Pedro, Calif. I believe it had made a stop at Winslow prior to crashing. No signs of wreckage. Hopefully somebody replaces the plaque as it will likely be lost/destroyed when this burned tree falls.
