I drove further downstream and went to a previously visited area with a pottery concentration. Found a couple pieces of shell, used for jewelry making by the Hohokam. I know Glycymeris was the preferred shell for bracelet making and I went down a rabbit hole trying to identify this as Glycymeris (aka bittersweet clam). Couldn't find any pictures showing pure white from Gulf of California, but I'm sticking with it.
