A German tourist whose English was so good that he knew what a Fata Morgana was insisted that we could see the Channel Islands: but I wasn't sold. Upon further review, we could see Catalina — with Orizaba most visible in this photo 105 miles away. Though farther north, the sightline is possible, but at 180 miles, I doubt that Anacapa or Santa Cruz was visible.
