That chimney is functional; I checked. Notice the super old galvanized bucket and gold pan. The fact that these items are still there, tell me that few have visited the place. It is easy to walk by it, as it is in a heavily overgrown area.

This is a perfect type of place to swing a metal detector. You can find old silver dollars, rings, or bags of gold flakes hidden by the old pioneers. This guy might have been killed by Indians at some point, leaving all his stuff behind. the bucket and gold pan were in good shape; there is no reason a person of limited means would just leave this sort of thing behind...they have value. soooooo another trip is in order.
