This is a silversword. It's an awesome succulent that's only found at the Haleakalā crater. The photo doesn't capture how luminescent it is-- from a distance they look like metal sculptures, and up close they look like they've been spray-painted silver-- bizarre! They can live to be over 50 years old.. whenever they reach a certain size, they send up a blooming stalk and then die.
