The village is closed -- the pine log across the main access is the Hopi way of saying the village is closed not abandoned! You can see marks on the log from where the conservation crew from 1934 used lines to haul up supplies. Unsubstantiated lore also attribute these marks to pot hunters ( Weathrill) taking treasures from the ruins.
