The second Grave site we have come across on the General Crook trail.
After some investigation. This guys name was George D. Bantz, Died Oct 6th 1895.
The marker was a wooden cross replaced between 1968 and 1973.
He was a trapper who used mules to haul his supplies. Trying to get off the rim to beat a winter storm, he punched his mule with the but end of his shotgun. The Shotgun went off shooting himself in the stomach. He was buried where he fell.
