There are four air vents in the downstream face of Hoover Dam, this is the access tunnel to one of them. If it looks like the tunnel is made of wood, that is because they poured the fresh concrete over wood forms, then removed the forms, with the enormous weight / pressure causing the wood grain to leave impressions in the hard concrete.
