This appears to be how the rancher gets water in to those tanks. This diesel generator runs an electric pump in the well located out of sight on the right side of this photo. The pump is connected to a network of underground black plastic pipe which leads to many of the tanks scattered around the plateau. The rancher was in the process of filling some of these tanks - the generator ran continuously for the 5 days we were here. If the wind was blowing in the right direction we could hear it in our camp.
