The only large area of pine reproduction on the trail might be interesting to view develop over the next 20 years, or so. It's really future dog-hair, but some are larger than others. By 2020 this was horribly stagnant doghair that will either be destroyed in a hot fire, or may cause a beetle outbreak. Keep in mind that there would have been natural fire thinning before 1880.
