Update from Ranger: "The general consensus of 3 separate archaeologists was that it is an Archaic point (which is what I thought), specifically a San Pedro point (Late Archaic). There are different dates for the San Pedro period of the Cochise culture (the term for the Archaic people in this area). These range from 3500BP-1800BP (BP is Before Present – not to be confused with BC). So, in plainer English, maybe 1500BC to 200-300AD. But it is definitely pre-Hohokam. This is a very important find, as we attribute some of the petroglyphs to the Archaic culture, but to my knowledge there have been no definitive points or other artifacts that can be attributed to the Archaic (until now!).
