Taking photos of redwoods can be a depressing affair because most redwood forests are too dark for good photography without a tripod and don't have views of much more than redwood trunks, ferns and poison oak. The forests up here are definitely more photogenic with large trees interspersed with open areas that allow a varied undergrowth to flourish.
