On the ridge top between Workman Crk Canyon and Reynolds Canyon. This was a flat area extending for some distance along the ridge forested with tall pines. We concluded that the old road had been put in for logging as there were very old stumps and a couple of abandoned lengths of heavy cable which is common in logged areas. It seems odd that logging was being conducted up here because the road down Workman Creek past the falls would have been hazardous for logging trucks. I don't know when the road was built. Perhaps it was put in to log timbers for the many uranium mine adits in Workman Canyon during the early 1950s. The road up Workman Creek at that time would have been improved for use by ore trucks, maybe with funding from the government (AEC). Two days later we would visit two of these old uranium mines and found one had many rough timbers made from logs of various diameters supporting the roof. Based on the appearance of the bark, I think these logs/beams were pine like the trees along the old logging road.
