Chacoans placed logs from one pilaster to the next and continued the process, creating a cribbed roof (stacked log or domed structure) covering the kiva interiors. Then they leveld the top with juniper bark, rock, and dirt. A central hatchway in the center of the flat roof vented smoke and enabled the people to enter and exit the kiva. chacoarchive.org/cr ... ito/
