On occasion I see people carrying a gallon of water. Which seems like overkill for a short hike and seriously cumbersome. Nevertheless it's better than unprepared. The odd part here was it looked like gasoline. I'm semi hoping it was Gatorade. Granted that wouldn't be good to drink that much unless it's super diluted. If it's juice there will be issues.
