We were hiking along the grass covered trail when this guy gave a warning rattle as we approached. Only 6 ft away in the middle of the trail, neither of us saw him until the warning rattle. He didn't want to hang around so by the time I got my camera out he was already slithering away in the grass. Not sure which of the 13 species of rattlesnakes in AZ but probably a Western Diamond Back.
