Took the picture because I thought this might be a brother to my "Devil's Tongue" cactus I found at Home Depot a few years back (and subsequently bought as I am a good ASU fan.) After comparing the photo to mine-- I think I was crazy and it is just a regular ole red barrel. Still pretty though-- there was quite a good sized swath of these on one of the hills on the trail and they looked very cool all together-- back lit from the morning sun.
