I am not sure what this tree is, but I think that it is a Red Tipped Norway Spruce (for about 2 weeks in the spring, new growth on this tree has a deep red color). This tree is not native to the US, and it was first introduced here in the 1980's. This particular tree is on top of Mingus Mountain, close to the hang glider launch pad. So it seems plausible that it could have been planted there at some point.
