Granite Park Chalet was built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railroad and is designated a National Historic Landmark. It was one of eight backcountry chalets, of which only two exist today. Most of these chalets, built with natural materials at the turn of the century, were a full day trip away from the handful of Grand Lodges in the newly established Park. The chalet's rustic accommodations are only accessible by trail.
