I had flushed a great blue heron from the stream several times as I hiked along the Thompson Trail but could never get a photo. While sitting in my car at the trailhead before leaving some movement on the stream in the distance caught my eye. Slipping the telephoto lens on my camera I got this long distance shot from the drivers window of my car. He's fishing in the protected Apache Trout section which requires catch and release but I doubt that he cares.
