My father looking down the shaft of the Mineral Park Mine were his father worked in the 1940's. He spent many hours here over Christmas & Thanksgiving holidays playing in the pump room & compressor room while his father was below ground digging out ore that he stored in bins until he could ship it after the snow melted off in the spring. The mine was a little over 3 miles up the side of the mountain from the families cabin down in the valley near Alma. My Grandfather would use snowshoes to get up to the mine every Monday and would spend the week in the cabin near the mine and then snowshoe back down to see the family on weekends. He did this in the winter and ran a logging operation in the valley during the summer months.
