following the collapse of the Teton Dam, it wasn’t so certain the city would continue making its own electricity. A wall of water reached Idaho Falls on June 6, 1976, tearing apart the city’s three power plants on the Snake. The City Plant was a total loss and the Upper and Lower plants were severely damaged. By 1982, the new bulb turbine plants were generating power (middle right photo is where the turbine is located). Upper right is Keefers Island.

At that point, Idaho Falls was generating 45 percent more electricity than before the Teton Dam failed.
