My two cohorts. Top photo at Cedar Breaks Lodge at Brian's Head and the
bottom photo is at Chessmen Ridge that has the great overlook into the Cedar Breaks National Monument.
At 9,800' elevation, Brian Head is known as the "Highest Resort Town" in America and neighbors 3 National Parks and 2 National Monuments. (no one knows for sure how exactly Brian Head got it's name) http://brianheadtown.utah.gov/how-brian ... -to-be.htm
The Chessman Ridge Overlook sits on the eastern edge of the Cedar Breaks National Monument amphitheater. The overlook shares a parking lot with the trailhead for the Chessman Loop Trail, which then can also be connected to the Alpine Pond Loop for one of the few chances to really get out and experience this monument beyond looking at it from afar. These hikes have very few people on them, so you can enjoy the area with great solitude.
