I have no idea what the flora is or will be in the top photo but there was a big mass of it below a Palo Verde tree on the south side along the Desert Tortoise Trail. GL's guess was New Zealand Spinach and Basil....I think probably not.
LL could be Purple Mustard https://www.americansouthwest.net/plant ... nella.html (it's a belly flower so hard to get a photo of) I need to pull my regular camera out to get close ups of these belly flowers.
