This vehicle is very near the actual mill site. My research: 1929 Lincoln Phaeton Model L with its original V8.
This engine was a 358 cubic inch 60º V8 introduced just after World War 1, when Lincoln was still owned by the Leland’s, pre-Ford.

Presumably this one was cutoff somewhere aft of the front doors and a rear bed, either purpose built, from another truck, or maybe even from a wagon, was grafted on. Most of the non-truck body panels were aluminum.
Fuel pump by Stewart … presumably before Warner came to the party.

It’s not uncommon in the desert near old mining operations to find machinery adapted to fulfill a different purpose. (Necessity is the mother of invention - my Grandfather Romain can certainly attest to that as a homesteader in Montana). Keep in mind if we assume these cars were built in or around 1930, we are in the early years of the Great Depression. These were incredibly expensive luxury cars for the time.

• Engine is 385 cubic inch (6.3L) 60˚ V8 making 90 horsepower
• Serial number is stamped on the drivers side of the engine’s aluminum crank case near the oil level glass tube!
• Stewart Warner Vacuum Fuel Feed System is still mounted on the firewall
