Prayer flags block your views of the Indus River. This is the bridge crossing into the Village of Choglamsar. Side note; the “Leh Ladakh Flood in August 2010” had an official death toll of 255. 255mm of rain is estimated to have fallen in the mountains above Leh in less than a 24 hour period. It should be noted that the average rainfall for August is about 15mm. Choglamsar is a Tibetan Refugee village between Leh and Shey along the Indus River. The mudslide caused by the flooding wiped out a swath about a mile wide. Bill Kite and Lama Palden note that you only have to look at the population density of the Tibetan refugee camps to determine that the death toll had to be ten times the official number.
