We stopped at the Haystack Butte Ranch to talk to a guy who turned out to be the ranch manager. He told us this building had been the homesteading site of the son of a previous rancher by the name of Sanders at the Haystack Butte Ranch but he didn't know the time frame. The son never proved up on the homestead so they never got ownership of the land. My guess is that this homestead was built sometime in the 1920s.
