The Udalls are a prominent family in Arizona and Mormon history. Is it named after the family as a whole, or specifically David, who led the Mormon settlement in nearby St. Johns? Or brother Joseph who settled in Eagar and was on the county board of supervisors? David's son John and grandson Nick were both mayors of Phoenix. Countless others have served as prominent politicians and judges, including the current US Senator from New Mexico Tom Udall (David's great-grandson).
