| no partners | | Well I started out at Tortilla Trailhead parking lot. I walked down the rough dirt road and meet a couple of hunters just before Tortilla Ranch. Once I reached the ranch there were more campsites set up. From there I head down Peters Trail. I wasn't sure where I was going. After a few miles there was a y on the trail and I decided totake the right trail which was really the wrong trail. But at this point I was commited so off I went. This trail was not hike all that much and made me think about Mike Fel's Marsh Valley Loop, yes I wished I had a machete but I didn't.
After a while I realized I was heading in the wrong direction and I did not want to go back the way I came. This was a mistake but of course with mistakes comes great views and there were plenty. I made my way where there was no trails and head up one mountain then down then back up another. After a while time became a concern of mine I did not want to be off trail in the dark so I made a crazy loop and reconnected with Peters Canyon trail and head back.
After I reached the Tortilla Ranch I saw one of the hunters cleaning his kill. I walked back up FR 213 toward my car when this black jeep stop and gave me I a ride for the last 1/2 mile to my car. Oh I almost forgot to say he is HAZ member
By this time I was very thristy but I new a had some cold Pale Ales in my trunk the first one went down fast the second one I sat down and just enjoyed it.
This was my very first time on the Tortilla Trailhead but not my last. I would like to try a loop out there. |
