Well this has been a strange year here for me. 2023 is the first year that I have not seen a rattlesnake on the trails in January. But today things seem to get back to normal.
In under a mile we came across 2 diamondbacks and 1 Long-nose snake. And my boy Rowdy impressed the hell out of me. I know that Rowdy will never be bitten by a rattlesnake. I trained him myself without electric shock. I can only guess but I believe Rowdy has the scent of a rattlesnake mastered. Today he just stopped on the trail and wouldn't move so I looked around and spotted it. I took Rowdy around it because he did not want to be even close to it. And thats is what I was trying to train him to do.
I can't even imagine hiking with another dog. He never lets me down and I will never let him down no matter what.
