Vedauwoo is a nifty little rock-climbing area located just off I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie. Its location to Laramie makes it a popular weekend spot for the college crowd, even when there's a foot of snow on the ground. There were a few cars parked at the entrance, claiming any snow-free spot they could find. I squeezed the Fiat between two cars and took off down the main road to find the trail.
Turtle Rock is a large round massif where most of the climbing activity takes place. There's a three mile trail that circles the base. The south side was mostly clear of snow, but the well-shaded north side was a different story. I was postholing through a foot of snow. Thankfully someone had been through before me, so I was able to retrace their steps. It took a while, but I made it safely back to my car.
