Back with the Tuesday morning old man running group for the first time since mid-November. Appears that this winter has taken its toll, I wasn't the only one out for an extended period of time and we were down to just me and two other people.
Easy run around the Bridle Trail, the Nature Trail, Sutherland and Canyon Loop trails. Still water in the wash, but easy to hop across on the rocks.
Chilly day at CSP, made the mistake of not taking gloves for the Tuesday Old Man Run. At the intersection of Oracle the temperature was 45 and by the time I parked my car a mile down the road it was barely 30. Even chillier when we dipped into the washes.
Snowbirds are back, so the trails even early in the morning are a bit busier.
I really like how Catalina State Park is cooler than the surrounding area in the summer, but now that winter is approaching not so much. Left my house and it was 56 degrees and by the time I got to the trailhead it was 39 degrees. Just a hair too brisk for my tastes.
Did the Tuesday morning old man running group to get back into the swing of things.
Trying to recover from a bout of food poisoning and wanted to gauge my fitness level before I head north to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. Appears that I might need a Plan B if I can't pull out some miracle recovery today.
Slow and easy run with the Tuesday morning old man group at CSP.
Tuesday morning old man running group again. Met at 6AM near the Romero Ruins trailhead and meandered around the park. It was already 83 when we started and once the sun poked up over the Catalina's the temps seemed to immediately jump 10 degrees. First mile is pretty flat, so despite the heat our 68 year old group leader and another guy who is 75 were popping off a 9 minute mile. Gives me inspiration to keep moving. The only concession to age these guys do is walk up the steeper hills and walk down any technical or steep descents.
