Just a nice easy little hike. Not many people out and Rowdy loved the cloud cover.
We did see a coyote and it was shedding so summer is coming.

I'd never done Daisy Mountain. I really didn't want to do the "Official" track that has a good portion on an old road, so I started on the SE section, in the area of W. Honda Bow and 11th Ave.

A short climb up an old steep washed out road and I was on the trail. Heading north, I made my way to the north peak first and signed the register. The flag is still there along with 2 solar lights to light it up at night.

I was impressed with the ease at which a mountain biker was climbing up the steep hills towards me on the peak. That was until he got close enough and I saw he was on an e-bike.

I headed down the peak heading to the north TH. The largest concentration of flowers was north of the peak and to the west. Poppies were the major bloom out here by far.

Continuing around to the south, I met up with the "Official" trail. Once again time to climb to get to the South peak, also with flag and solar light.

From here, I returned the way I came. Great weather for hiking and I only saw a few other hikers.
This would be a nice workout hike if you lived in the area.

a large portion were poppies. There are also lupine, scorpionweed, red maids and more.

It had been a little bit since Linda Ann and I had hiked together and years since I had been in the Goldfields, so she put together a nice 'flat' route for us yesterday. Started at the Bulldog Canyon Gate at 6am and hiked up the road for the initial part which was blah but was pretty quick. Then took the connector up to Dome Mountain. The trail started ascending gradually but got pretty steep the closer to the summit, but overall was in really great shape. Spent a few minutes on top of Dome, signed the register and headed back down to meetup with the connector that would take us up to peak 3134. Again, the there was a decently defined trail here along with cairns which made the going much easier. Found another register on top and after a few minutes we begin making our way over to 3089. This is where the trail ended; started with a steep bushwhack down to a saddle then up to peak 3089. From there the bushwhack continued down to a wash then a short bur fairly steep climb up to 3047. The views from all four of the peaks and the entire ridgeline were fantastic, well worth the effort. From the top of 3089 it was a slow bushwhack down and over to the Horse with No Name trail. Our original goal was to hike up to Top Hat, however, once we saw the Horse with No Name trail making it's way up a rock face we changed things up. Up and back down the Horse with No Name trail then over to Packsaddle with a quick stop at Cottonwood Spring, which was a cool setup. Continued on to the Rock House trail then over and up Blue Ridge before finally heading back to the TH. Finished with 12.6 miles with just over 3,000 AEG for the day hitting 4 peaks. Weather was a bit chilly to start, got a bit warm mid day but the wind and high clouds helped to keep the temps down. Thanks Linda for putting together this awesome route, there is definitely some additional hiking I want to do in the Goldfields.

Construction has begun on the end of Cloudview where I would normally park. Lots of private property signs up too that seemed to block usual access, so we went over and started from Broadway TH. Of course lots of water and nicely flowing falls back there after all the storms.

Last full day in Naples FL area. Did this solo walk starting at 8:30 am before it gets too hot & humid. High 85 F, 67% humidity, 15 MPH wind.

Quite a difference among cave experiences. Nice to be self guided but definitely busy. No bats this time of year. Fun time.

Hadn't ever ventured up to this area. My assessement:

--Cave Creek trail: would be great in the spring/summer when there are leaves on the trees, and in the fall, when colors are popping. 2-3 nice swimming holes along the way, for warmer weather.

--Skunk Creek trail: the initial climb is a good workout with decent views, but from Skunk tank on, it's basically a somewhat drab road walk.

I off-trailed up to the Quien Sabe mine. Entrance imploded; not a lot to see.

The highlight of the hike for me was the impressive crested saguaro off the side of the trail on Cave Creek.

Well I decided on doing this trail today as there was a biking event going on in Oro valley and a book event in Tucson. Still the trails were very busy but the weather was great. Rowdy seemed to have an issue with one of his paws so I put on his socks and boots and he was fine.
Flowers out here were kinda funny as one spot had these flowers and another had something else. It was really a very nice hike with some great weather and no one complained about Rowdy being off leash even other people who had their dogs on leash.
It really was a very nice hike out but the drive back really is never fun.
I did notice that Route Scout doesn’t list all the trails in this preserve.
