Did this trail as part of a larger trip to Brinkley Point. Headed out at about 9 am with 7 other hikers. Made it to the spring trail junction in about 50 minutes. From there it was across the flat little valley and a bushwack up the ridge and out toward Sabino canyon. It took considerably longer to do the 1.5 miles to the point from the junction than it did to get there. Great views, cold, windy day. Made it back to the cars in about 5 hours.

Popped in here while taking the fun route back to Tucson from Christoper Creek. The little museum and ruins are pretty neat. It was definitely worth the 3 bucks. Hopefully soon I'll get the chance to make it to the upper ruins.

Did this peak climb with members of SAHC. After going up and down various "roads" we eventually came to the parking area just south of the mountain. Short overland bushwhack to the peak and then straight up the main wash. Saw one baby rattler on the way up. Pretty easy climb/scramble to the top. Made it up in about 1 hour, ate a banana, signed log and headed back the way we came. Saw a nice stone pile just over the north side of the peak. Great views, total solitude and clear climbing made for a great trip.

The distance is kind of a guess since my GPS has a tendancy to shut itself off everytime it gets bumped. Started from the picnic area off Picture Rocks south of the peak. Nice little overland hike to the base was just over a mile. Headed up what looked like the primary drainage for the range - with Panther off to our left and Sombrero one range south on our right. Easily scrambled up the wash and over a saddle to our right (east) and then realized that we had overshot our crossing to Sombrero by a few hundred yards. At that point we just went down and across the valley infront of us (the really big one that empties to the east on the south side of the peak). We bushwacked our way east to the "up" point of the climb. From there is was gravel, loose rocks the size of beach balls and exposure. I was kind of worried that gravity would get the upper hand a few times.... After signing the "log" - which was a piece of cardboard from a box that a flag came in - we cruised back down trying hard not to dislodge any boulders that would hit the person below. After our decent of the peak we headed west and summited Panther peak. We signed the log there and then headed back down the same wash and overland to the car.

The most difficult part of this hike was finding a parking spot at the trailhead... Nice cool afternoon for a hike. Went up Aspen and down Marshall. Not a particularly thrilling adventure (and somewhat lacking for good views) but a good warm-up for the longer trails in the area.

Hmm, didn't realize until this morning that this counted as a hike. Anyhoo, my fiance took me here and to Montezuma casle for my birthday over the October 20th weekend last year. This was my first trip to ruins and it was great. Hardly anyone else was at the place so we got a lot of good pics.

Did this trail as part of a rim to rim with Take A Hike AZ group. Started off well enough. A little hot at the bottom (80's) but cooled off quite a bit when the rain and hail started just after Cottonwood. Made it out right at night fall for a total travel time of about 9.5 hours.

I'm not sure of the distance since there is no listing for the kachina-weatherford loop. Anyhoo, started out from the Snowbowl parking area. Went down Kachina and then back up over Weatherford and down Humphrey's Peak trail. Everything was going well until I hit about 10,500 feet and started feeling sick. Apparently the over nite in the forest at 8000 feet wasn't enough to get me ready for this one. Beautiful trail and weather, though. Passed about 20 people along the entire route including sveral small dogs and kids (which made me feel even worse about getting altitude sickness).

Grand Canyon warm up taken with 8 others from Take a Hike AZ. Ran into trouble due to fire damage and ever growth of trail. Added 7 miles to hike by ascending Pinal Peak and taking forest raod back to vehicles in valley.

Arrived at trailhead around noon time with a group from Take a Hike AZ. Threatening skies (and frequent thunder) kept the trail virtually empty for the entire day. Luckily, the weather turned and we never saw rain - just perfect mid 60's temps and overcast. Went up Bear Jaw and down Abineau on the advice of a ranger we met at the trailhead. Good thing we listened. The avalance completely wiped out the upper Abineau trail which made for some hairy hiking. Coming up this way would have been quite difficult if not impossible. After losing the trail a few times and carefully picking our way down the valley through the log jam we eventually picked up the route again and made our way out. I was quite surprised to see snow. According to the ranger, a couple of guys actually hiked up and skied one of the remaining patches before we got there. Unbelievable....

Did this hike on a nice sunny, warm (102) Sunday. The trail is unfortunately starting to get over grown from all of the spring rains and everyone in our group ended up with some pretty heavy pinstriping. The flow in the creek is less than 1 cfs so the hike to the hole is fairly easy. The narrows are only waist (or chest if you're short) high. The pool is still pretty full but becoming a bit murky. Even so, it made for a welcome oasis in the desert heat.

Went on a little hiking/swimming adventure up the canyon from the Bullpen parking lot. Went about 3 miles in to a nice deep hole with some good jumping/diving cliffs. By the end of the day the entire valley was filled with smoke from the Cave Creek fire and ash was falling.

This was my first trip down to the narrows. The hike in was pretty decent. Someone put up signs along the road and trail to lead people in. I guess they got tired of picking up litter on their lawns. At first I was pretty impressed with the area (from a distance). There was plenty of water and the temperature was great. Unfortunately, the area near the first pool smelled like poop and was littered with broken beer bottles and other junk. However, past that area the creek was practically deserted. We only saw a handful of people the rest of the day. Some of the group managed to make it up to the waterfall about 1/2 mile or so up stream. This trip involved 3 swims of 50 yards or less so it wasn't terribly difficult. I would recommend doing this hike as long as you are ready to put in the effort to go up stream. From what I saw it gets better the farther you go.

Nice little hike for a warm day. with elevation topping out around 7000' there was a nice cool breeze blowing for us. Had a little trouble trying to scramble up the summit from the trail but eventually made it. Hopefully, someday there will be an actual path to follow.

First time up this canyon. It was exceptionally hot which made the bouldering difficult. Saw (and almost stepped on) a rattle snake. Also encountered some sort of mountain goat as well as some campers. After about a mile and a half we decided to turn back due to the dense vegetation and heat.

While heading home from Miller's Peak I decided at the last minute to stop and climb Picacho. I figured it would be a piece of cake after the 11 miles the day before. Wrong. Between the heat and the beating my knees took the day before and the fact that I hadn't had breakfast I almost didn't make it all the way up. When I did finally reach the top I was greeted by about a billion gnats. After inhaling a couple hundred I beat it back down the trail. Only saw about a dozen people along the way including one guy who was carrying a baby in his arms with no backpack or gloves or water. I'm still not sure how he made it to the top...

Tried to do this one yesterday but was turned back by rain and lightening. With a slight break in the clouds I gave it a try today. The weather was nice and cool and mostly cloudy which made for comfortable hiking. Didn't see any illegals but did see the remnants of them. About 3 miles in the trash really started to build up and in a couple places the smell was pretty terrible. Besides that it was a great hike with cool views through the low clouds at the peak. Also, this must be ladybug mating season because there were millions of them at the top.

Came up this trail after decending on South Kaibab in a rim to river and back hike. A fairly cool day and plenty of flowing water in the creek made for an enjoyable walk to Indian Gardens. After that the lack of water at 3 and 1.5 mile houses made the walk a little more difficult as I had to carry a full pack.

Took this trail as the first leg in a rim to river and back trip. Beautiful day with temps in the 70's on the rim and around 90 in the canyon.
