This was my first time going to Havasupai. The weather was great (despite driving through snow to get there)and the water was just warm enough not to send you into total shock when splashing down from the rope swings. If anyone hasn't done this trip I would really recommend it. I wouldn't recommend, however, taking the helicopter. A few people in our group did and they ended up waiting over 8 hours to fly out. I walked it in less than 3 (and that's after choking down a gut bomb Supai breakfast burrito...).

Took a couple of buddies from Wisconsin down with me. Wanted to do something a little easier and cooler since they weren't used to the dry southwest heat. Tried to follow the directions in the "100 Hikes in Arizona" book by the Mountaineers but found it to be pretty inaccurate. Luckily, after a few wrong turns we found the trail head. Nice cool day for a hike with highs in the 70's. Saw a few non-poisonous snakes and explored the ruins for about a half hour. On the way out I nearly took out an entire family of ATVers as I came over a hill. One of them was actually holding a baby (in diapers) on his lap while driving. Unbelievable.

My first time up this trail. After reading all of the descriptions about how great it is I was really psyched. Well, about 1.5 miles up all the excitment left as a hiking buddy pointed to the "trail" from the first saddle. An hour and a half later I finally managed to haul myself up. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a haze so you couldn't see very far off the top.

Took trail down creek bed past Battleship to pool at Labarge Canyon. Returned over saddle of Battleship via first water trail.
