Strong winds kept us from reaching the summit, but this is a nice hike. Starts in mixed forest (with some recovering burn zones from the 2018 Pole Creek / Bald Mountain fire) then heads up above treeline along ridgelines. I'll probably be back some time to finish this one.

Another excellent Wasatch steep-peak hike, thanks to @ddgrunning for posting this one. Returned via Slate Canyon (the next canyon to the south) and the Bonneville Shoreline trails. Slate Canyon has cool cliffs, but the hiking is mostly on rocky two-track.

Back for another counter-clockwise loop. Two years since the 2017 Boundary Fire devastated areas of the mountain, and new vegetation is thriving in the burn zones as nature does her thing to soften the scars and begin the recovery.

On the way down Bull Basin I met a crew of 9 Conservation Corps workers doing a beautiful job grooming and refreshing the trail, and they said that a crosscut crew will be coming through soon to take care of the numerous downed trees :y:. The full length of the Connector has been flagged, hopefully that means it is also scheduled for maintenance. Upper Pumpkin also had some flagged sections. So awesome that these trails aren't going to be abandoned!

Can't believe it's been 5 years since my last visit to this amazing place. Flooding last winter scoured off a lot of the HG vegetation, but it will recover soon enough.

From the north end: down PCT > up ERT > across Milk Ranch mesa > down WWT > up TT > return. East Rim is a bold little route, very fun, saw a mama cinnamon and 2 cubs on the mesa, several small flowing creeks along WW, refreshing thunderstorm on the way out.

Fine loop, short but steep, with great views along the rim, thick forest below and a very short creek. Overgrown, long pants recommended.

Two-day AZT trail work event on the Babbitt Ranch re-route, getting the route off the ranch roads and on to new singletrack. The mini-dozer had made the initial cut, so the 30 volunteers (Day 1) and 15 volunteers (Day 2) pulled the dirt back on to the trail, separated out the grass and large rocks and smooth finished the surface. All together we finished out 1.75 miles. Pretty warm out there but the breeze kept it tolerable, and since most of us volunteers aren't used to hard outdoor labor, trail boss Wendy kept the work days fairly short.

Took Bell up to the rim and back down, then went a couple miles up Wet Beaver Creek. On 2/14/19 the creek gage hit 10,000 CFS; the flood scoured out nearly all of the smaller trees and vegetation in this section and the debris is now piled on the upstream sides of the surviving large trees. Must've been a sight to see. The canyon is more open now and a bit easier to travel - there's still plenty of rock hopping, wading and swimming to do, but no bushwhacking. The water was clear and refreshing as usual.

Biked down the highway from the top then hiked NOBO from the Gordon H campground. Excellent climb on quality trails that's just as rugged, scenic and enjoyable as the regular passage. Great views throughout and very green at the higher elevations.

Down Colonel Devin, east to finish up my last stretch of the Highline, back up on Babe Haught to FR300, mtn bike return to start. Cool and breezy, flowing water in probably a dozen drainages between Washington Park and Tonto Hatchery.

SOBO, outstanding trail and scenery, a bit warm in the afternoons but usually breezy. Carried enough water for both days (the cache box at the Telegraph Canyon Rd crossing was well stocked, the Gila was flowing but murky). Still some nice spring flowers around. Finally saw my first gila monster! Bike shuttle.

Lovely day to mtn bike the trails in Ft Tuthill (including the Bridge and Highland trails) and out to Rogers Lake, which really is a legit lake right now after the wet winter. Trails are easy to moderate riding, often rocky but no white knuckle drops or climbs.

Very enjoyable loop with lots of flowing water right now, went counterclockwise from the top. I'm estimating Pivot Rock could weigh close to 50 tons balanced on that crumbling pedestal - amazing! Only downside was the ability of ATVs to access quite a bit of the loop.

NOBO from the railroad tracks just north of US 60 to exit at Roosevelt Lake. Many thanks to sandyfortner for the shuttle.

Primo Spring conditions after the wet winter. Greenery, wildflowers, and from Whitford Canyon to Pine Creek I was never more than a few miles from clear running creeks. Cottonwood had light flow along much of its middle section too.

Up Barnhardt and down Davenport all the way to Horseshoe Dam. Super green out there, with tons of wildflowers and abundant flowing water in the upper elevations. Very scenic, but all the miles of intermittent-to-nonexistent trail wore me down pretty good. Thanks to BiFrost and slowandsteady for the car shuttle.
