Did this the day after Sierra Estrella HP - much easier than I expected, and a lot of fun. Incredible view into the Superstitions and the nearby stretch of the Arizona Trail looked enticing. More reasons to come back. The mailbox was pretty cool to see up on top.

Incredibly rough hike. Route-finding skills and desert travel will be tested here. All the effort is worth it once on the main Estrella divide. Our ascent line from the end of the road took a small ridge just southeast of the prominent gully and offered sturdier rock and easier route-finding. Descended the gully.

Sent email to Gila River tribe two weeks prior to trip.

Cloudy, humid day. Too late of a start for Butterfly (Ben likes sleep), but a great reason to go back. Looked like a fairly rugged (and fun) traverse, though.

Spring break trip a couple of years ago. Day 1) Hiked down New Hance and camped at Hance Rapids. Large blizzard left over a foot of snow near the rim, so trail-finding was a bit dicey up high. Once in the Supai formation, the snow cleared. Day 2) Trekked over to Horseshoe Mesa. No need to haul water from Miners Spring since there were patches of snow around. Day 3) Hiked out the icy/snowy Grandview Trail. Unbelievable scenery, as always.
