My goal this year is to increase my miles hiked. Of course the hardest part is leaving the front door....done! Beautiful after work hike and weather.

Hike and bird combo trip. The morning was sunny and cold, 22 upon arrival. Last January I was able to photograph my first Bald Eagle and today I was hoping for the same. Patience paid off, as I spotted one and I was able to bush whack to his last known perch. Although, I was able to get a few photos, they aren't nearly as sharp or close as last years. I was neat hiking in some decent snow.

Inaugural trip on my new Fuji mountain bike, me bum feels a bit battered :stretch: Suppose I'll need to invest in some padded panties  I think the bike will be a nice way of changing things up, so I don't get as burned out and as easily.

The first big cold front moved in Christmas day, which made this morning nice and brisk. It was 26 when I arrived at the self pay area at 0740, glad I was wearing my long handles : rein : The river level was low, in fact, I hiked just over 2 miles to get to the main body of water, which is the farthest South end of the Agua Fria river before it dumps into Lake Pleasant.

Birds were scarce, no raptors and very few water fowl. I only encountered a group of 4 hikers today, which is cool with me - it's pretty sweet having a vast area such as this all to my self :y:

Good day!

I was searching for a relatively easy hike with little AEG, so my wife could enjoy it too. One of her friends from work bikes this trail and highly recommended it. The day was perfect, overcast and cool, 77 before the rain and 57 after the rain started. We made it 2 miles before the 'BIG' lightning and thunder started to our South, this is where we decided to head back in hopes of not getting drenched. It really opened up as we approached the TH and cooled down nicely. Perfect weather for an after hike coffee at "Late For The Train' coffee house on Hwy 180.

Next, off to downtown Flagstaff and lunch at BIG foot BBQ.

Nice hike, but it became very windy. Only saw 2 other groups this morning, I was virtually alone most of the day.

Nice hike today from the parking area to the Northern edge of Lake Pleasant. birding was great observed 49 species. Since the lake level is low, it's relatively easy to hike to the lake and find some nice areas to sit and enjoy the natural beauty.

First hike since having some ingrown toe nails removed. Decent bird activity, the highlight was 45 FOS (first of season) Turkey Vultures that were mainly perched, just North of the lake water line.

Went North on the Arizona Trail for 1.15 miles chasing some Clarke's Nutcrackers and Bald Eagles. The snow was fairly substantial in spots. Great hiking day!
