Really fun hike, with great views. It looks like no one has taken this trail in a while, most of the cairns were down, but we replaced many of them, hence the slow time getting up to the top. Finding our way through Tortilla Creek was difficult as well, because most the cairns had all washed away due to significant rain a month ago, the creek is still flowing briskly. Note: At 65 years old, I consider the last 50 feet before the summit to be a scramble, but that's just me. Lot's of potential exposure, but only if you allow someone to get too close to the edge, be careful !!The previous warning from Joe to not take children or dogs is wise counsel. Don't let that stop you from a very fun hike.

Drove in with the RZR to Peter's trailhead, only went to the low pass as I didn't know Peter's Pass was just a little further, ( I do now). Still quite a bit of water flowing in Tortilla creek and somebody recently groomed the trail so the majority of the cats claw is at bay for now.

Nice day for this hike as the trail was remarkably not crowded. Trails going everywhere so actual trail was hard to follow after Wind Cave, good thing Bob had been there many times and knew the right path.

Went to the world famous San Juan Capistrano Mission. This is some very old buildings and artifacts. They have an audio self tour, very informative. This is the place famous for the return of the swallows in the spring every year.

Dana Point - Bluff Top Trail

Went for a short hike in Dana Point California with my wife. Beautiful sunny day and even more beautiful scenery, Trail starts at the Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area visitors center and loops around on top of the bluff and down to the beach below, It's whale watching time, but we didn't see any going thru the channel. The only real uphill trek is a staircase with about 100 steps, if you're in the area you should take advantage of this hike.

Trip includes some off trail work south off boulder creek. Start at First Water TH, head down Second Water, turn left on Boulder Canyon Trail, Turn right and head up La Barge Canyon, After the horseshoe, climb up to the saddle and down in to Boulder Canyon (head right), turn left up Boulder creek and then up and over the hills next to Black Mesa, turn right on Black Mesa Trail #241, head back down to Second Water and turn left, then it's back to the parking area.
