got up early to get in a little solo screamer before flying back to the states. the whole entire hike was completely socked in with fog and my visibility was maybe 30-40 feet most of the time. definitely made for a little more adventure lol. i would love to do this again sometime on a nice day, as i am sure the views are spectacular. as it was, it was a very fun steep climb. still snow up top.

rained on me the whole way back. i was the only car in the parking lot when i got there. couple hardy souls on my way out.

scattered rainy day. weather opened up and we got a few miles in at a nearby beautiful little reserve. looped together several trails to make an interesting short hike, that took us by Mystery Creek and also a look at Seymour River.

we saw a couple of large slugs

pushed our luck with the coming rain and got drizzled on but it was worth it to check out this neat little spot right on the waters edge. we saw an eagle and a blue herron in action. very cool

we took a day to go out to Whistler

we stopped and checked out Brandywine Falls on the way, which was quite impressive!

we hiked Cheakamus Lake in Garibaldi Provencial Park. for a modest effort the payoff is pretty big. first half is a very pleasant hike through a splendid forest. as you get nearer the lake, you come upon the river draining out of it, which is awesome. once you hit the lake, views open up and it is magnificent. the lake has a gorgeous turquoise color and is bordered by dense pines with snowy alpine peaks behind it. hiked along the north shore for a couple miles and found a wonderful secluded little picnic spot along the beach.

weather was perfect. saw just a few people.

went and hit up whistler village afterwards. just an awesome place in general and wonderful day

Known locally as Quarry Rock this is a cool hike out of Deep Cove on the east end of north vancouver. steep climb with little bridges and such. excellent views from the top over Indian Arm and the Harbor.

the weather was perfect this day, so we decided to make a bigger loop out of it with some nearby trails in Seymour Provincial Park. long stretches of magnificent pine and fern forest. fun descent down a steep trail with wooden mountain bike bridges and jumps. came back into deep cove along the beach, ate the best donut of our lives at Honeys then headed back. we did this whole thing from our front door :)

awesome day!

our first hike in vancouver. we started pretty early, so it was not too crowded. gnarly rooty ascent through forest. the summit offers amazing views of the city and snow capped high country. fair amount of people on the summit, but easy to find solitude as it is a pretty large summit. crowded on the way back.

Mt Seymour Provincial Park is awesome for being so close to, basically in, north vancouver

we bypassed the heavily crowded suspension bridge and instead hit the nearby river park. FAR less crowded and surprisingly gorgeous trails through a splendid forest! some of our route brought us along the river, which was bigger than i anticipated. at one spot we could see several large fish floating along. i think they were salmon. we hit up the hatchery and also walked across the Cleveland Dam which was super cool.

this park was an absolute gem right in north vancouver!
