Great night to be out walking around SoMo. Cool but no breeze. Up Corona East and onto the ridge. We skipped along the boulders of Guadalupe Ridge, in a more adventurous way, at times. Down at Fat Man's Pass, National to Corona and back to the TH. We crossed paths with one biker, otherwise not a soul. Enjoyed the company and a little exercise.

First time on this peak, for me. Started with Linda and Daniela at around 615am. 55 degrees at the start, but warmer air awaited as we got out of the low spots. I enjoyed the gradual uphill to Bell Pass. We were in the sun after that, but it felt nice out for late spring. Very dry out there, right now. We hit the road walk portion and pushed through the couple of steep sections. We enjoyed the breeze and had a snack on the summit. Skies were a little hazy and lacking clouds. Views of the Mazzies were clear, though. On our trip back down, we crossed paths with a few others heading up, but there wasn't a ton of traffic on the trails. We returned the way we came and made it home before lunch. Nice hike and decent gain, close to town.

We started this little turkey trot nice and early and beat the crowds. Up Corona East in the dark, then East on Guadalupe Ridge. Perefct weather, great company and ridgewalking into a sunrise. What a treat. We then dropped into Hidden Valley and traveled in the wash to the stone buildings. Back up onto Guadalupe to National, then National to Corona and back down. As expected, lots of people out working up an appetite, or just avoiding a busy kitchen. Good hike, and it definitely served it's purpose as a hunger inducer.

Hit the hills for an evening exercise stroll. The breeze made going up Telegraph rather enjoyable. Cruised on up National and made it to the old lookout to see the valley covered in a brown blanket. The trip back down Telegraph required a bit of finesse as we passed through, over and around a large group. I was unable to make any new friends. Good little workout. Awesome nighttime weather.

We decided to stay close and hit a nice backyard leg-stretcher on SoMo. Little Miss Bossy put together a loop that involved some off-trail, some boulder hopping, a peak, and plenty of new territory, for me. We started from a busy Pyramid TH and followed the trail up to the 'big wash' until it's junction with a smaller drainage from the west. We then traveled up this side wash, through the boulders, over a couple of dry falls, and under a tree or two. Views and even a breeze most of the way up. New sights for both of us, including some mining history. After topping out, we took Ranger down, and walked west via Bajada and Alta. Made the side trip to Maricopa Peak and enjoyed a nutrition break. A flat, boring, roadside stretch of National ensued. Necessary for this loop and now I've seen it with my own eyes. We encountered a few hiking groups/families back here. Nice weekend weather will do that. Once back on Gila, we cruised up and over the saddle, back on Pyramid to the TH. Nice and warm in the sun west of the saddle. Temps were great and breezy, throughout. This was a fun one, had a good time.

The usual Corona Loop with a late start at around 730pm. Dark and cool, with a nice breeze up top. Quite a few mountain bikers down below, as I made my way up, but I didn't cross paths with anyone.

Started from a busy Warpaint TH, but didn't see anyone else beyond the first quarter mile. Up on Corona East and onto Guadalupe Ridge where we went East. Looks much different going in this direction, especially at night. Fun scrambles and rock hopping. Dallin managed not to spill his energy drink along the way. We took an alternate route (thank you, Linda) off the ridge and into the wash between Guadalupe and National. West through the wash and into Hidden Valley. West on National to Buena Vista and down Corona de Loma. Great SoMo loop that samples a little bit of everything. Nice to bust a 10-miler on a Monday, in town, and not see another soul.

Great little night hike. Started up San Gabriel. Guadalupe is a treat at night. Dropped down into Hidden Valley and onto National. Then looped around on Mormon Loop, Ridgeline and Beverly. Watched a fox for a while. Also saw an owl and 2 coyotes.

Evening stroll in the exercise hills. Serenaded by coyotes on the way up Corona. Great temps all night. Nighttime in the desert sure is nice these days.

We started up Campaign first, which treated us to a nice fall display and even a trickle of water in spots. Brushy, here and there, but not bad. The trail itself was easy to follow. Overcast skies and a cool, fall breeze made for very comfortable conditions. We continued on a nice little climb up Fireline. The catclaw and other stabby stuff is present, nothing that'll stop you in your tracks. We reached Circlestone as a light drizzle passed through. We enjoyed the first raindrops in quite some time. We skipped on by and started toward Mound. Naturally, I headed straight for the manzanita. Not Linda's favorite vegetation to fight, but she didn't complain. We broke free of the manzy and took a nice route to the summit. We enjoyed the excellent views, epic clouds, gorgeous weather and even a low level fly-by from 4 fighter jets during lunch. The trip back down went by quicker. We took the other side of the ridge and found an easier path, avoiding the manzy patch. Circlestone was busy and we knew we'd encounter people at Reavis Ranch. There were dozens of campers and a few more trickling in as we passed through. We jumped on Reavis Gap and left all of that behind. I like this trail and the views of Four Peaks along the way. After some advice for a group of distressed AZT backpackers, we started the loose, gravel-ridden downhill. We arrived back at the TH just before darkness fell. This was a great hike and absolutely perfect day to be in the Supes. Best day I've had in a long time.

Joined Dallin on a nice exercise loop. We started up San Gabriel Ridge, then West on Guadalupe Ridge. We walked until it met National. Prime SoMo real estate, as Dallin would put it. Headed back East on National, into Hidden Valley and down the wash. Dallin picked an extra special route at one point, that involved as much scrambling as possible, and even some catclaw. Once connected to Mormon Loop, we followed it onto Ridgeline and finished out via Beverly and back down San Gabriel. No headlamps needed, plenty of moonlight.

Started from Pyramid TH and up Lost Mine, which is always a treat. The early start gave us a little time before headlamps. The cool breeze finally caught us near the top of Lost Mine, and felt amazing. Good night on the exercise hills.

I'd been in talks with both Linda and Dallin about this one, so we decided to combine forces. My last journey here was solo, so it was nice to have some good company. We met at the TH at 7am and started up Y-Bar shortly after. The roller coaster of rocks is a perfect little warm-up before the off-trail begins. The route to the summit seemed much easier this time. Some bushwacking, a few scrambles, a few scratches, but nothing miserable. We used teamwork to achieve the objective. Between my sharp eyes, Dallin's route finding and a bossy, backseat driver, we made good time. The summit was nice, as usual. Great central AZ views. We enjoyed a lunch and started back down the north facing drainage. Beyond the big waterfall, we were treated to a fall wonderland we didn't quite expect. The entire area was bone dry, not even a stagnant pool. Lots of fun climbing down this drainage, but we were happy to be back on trail, upon reaching Barnhardt. We cruised on back to the TH. Didn't see another person all day and weather was perfect and fall-like. Great day in the Mazzies.

Good little loop hike with sleeping beauty. We started up San Gabriel to Guadalupe Ridge, and then west. Always enjoy Guadalupe. We then dipped down into Hidden Valley and onto National. Just before Mormon, we took the wide drainage wash that parallels Mormon Loop, and followed it all the way to Ridgeline Trail. Neat little wash, some boulder hopping fun to be had. Not sure if this wash is named. We then took Ridgeline to Beverly, then back up Guadalupe to it's meeting with San Gabriel. Great weather this a.m., so plenty of people out enjoying the trails.

Enjoyable weeknight stroll on SoMo. Tons of bikes on DC, but all other trails were empty, as usual. Nice evening, old lookout, great company, and a little higher milage than anticipated. Turned out to be a good little leg-stretcher.

After an early a.m. lifting session, followed by heavy bag work and 9.5 hours on the job, a short yet sweet exercise hike was in order. Started at 6:30, headlamp from the beginning, and buzzed on up Corona East. Enjoyed the 'breeze on National.' Then back down Corona. Finished at 8:08. Saw no people or wildlife. Some pockets of cold air along DC made for a refreshing finish.
