This hike spends a high percentage of the time hiking in washes in sand. Does have some nice views about mid-way through the hike. Not sure I'll do this one again.

This was a pretty enjoyable hike I expect this trail gets a lot less traffic than the one Hunter trail. It's a bit longer but a better view in the back of this mountain.

There are a number of trails in the Seven Springs area that we have not yet hiked, One of the reasons for this is because it is difficult to piece together a loop that is within the 10 mile range. We decided we would just go on Bronco Trail #245 and up Trail #247 until we were ready to turn back. We decided to turn back at just about 5 miles in the hike to make 10 mile hike by the time we got back to the trailhead.

Weather turned out to be just about right, and there were various wild flowers here and there throughout the hike. It was a good day, didn't run into anyone else the whole time.

We decided to do a short night hike and figured this would be a good one since this trail system is extensively utilized by bikers. Arrived about 1:30am. Need to start paying particular attention to the trail now that it's warming up; don't want to step on any rattlesnakes! It seems it was cool enough that there were none out this early in the morning.

Hike was quite nice, got some nice views a and took a couple of pictures. Finished up at about 3:30am and got home in time to start the day!

We decided to to this trail as a there-and-back; starting from the Hieroglyphics Trailhead just to the peak and back to the trailhead for a 5.9 mile round trip. Weather was perfect along the Lost Goldmine Trail #60. The trail leading to the peak was pretty straight forward. It appears there are a few different ways to the peak, just follow the cairns, and one of the cairn trails will get you there.

Views of the south, north, and west are fantastic from the peak. This peak is well worth the effort.

Hadn't done this hike for a while, and we had some friends in town looking for a reasonable hike. Typically we would avoid this hike on the weekend, but figured if we started at the break of dawn, we would avoid folks for at lease 1/2 of the hike.

Well, the water was quite low in Bartlett (50-70 feet below the high line?). Still the hike was nice, and surprisingly, we didn't run into anyone for most of the hike. I assume this is because the dock was closed, and so most folks went somewhere else.

We picked up quite a lot of trash in the last 1/2 mile of the hike. People just go out there with their 6pack and get drunk and leave bottles. I guess the world is their trash can.

We intended on doing the Derrick-Horton loop, starting out with the Derrick section. This would be our third time. When we got to the Promontory Trail #278 intersection, I figured we haven't seen that, lets give it a try; It's only 0.75 miles to the Butte, so I was able to convince the wife to try this instead of the loop, as a there-and-back hike, cutting down the length of the hike by about 1 mile.

I did figure this would be tougher elevation gain, and it looked like the trail wasn't heavy traveled, so I figured the time should be about the same.

The trail is very lightly traveled, and there are periodic cairns, but you need to keep your eye out. The trail does start off at a steeper incline, and pretty much keeps it going until you top-out at the mesa on top. A good percentage of this hike is wrapping around the mountain, and pretty steep, With the pine leaves, footing can be tricky at times.

All in all, I'm glad we did this, the view on the top is nice, but I don't think we will do this again, quite a bit of work for 1.5 miles.

Hadn't done this one for a while and decided to to it. We didn't start at the main trailhead because we drove the Model 3 so we wouldn't need to get gas, and the wife won't take this car far down any dirt roads. We parked shortly after turning off of 60 and dropped down into a wash; picked up the AZ Trail to the trailhead, then proceeded to the summit.

It's a bit of a slog on the last part up near the final big push before it begins leveling off. After reaching the summit I wanted to explore a little more on the top, since this is more like a mesa up here. Went to the North-West summit and spotted a box with some ashes of someone (See photo). Also spotted a small window/Arch(see photo) near this summit. Then headed over to the South-West summit to check out the views there. No real trails to these other summits, but easy enough to pick your own path.

Wanted to come back and do part of this hike during the day. Last time we did part of it as a night hike since it is part of the Arizona Trail we knew it would be well defined and easy to follow at night.

We went about 4.2 miles to a gate and decided to turn back to make an overall hike of 8.4 miles.

Overall this is a typical rolling hills hike in the desert. Not spectacular, but overall an enjoyable hike.

We decided to take a second stab at the Mask arch and also hit the Blue Ridge for a 8 mile loop. All in all a pretty nice hike where we were able to avoid the roads for most of the hike until we hit the Blue Ridge section (I'll upload the GPS). There is suppose to be another arch in the Blue Ridge section, but I don't think it is visible from the trail, and we didn't wonder off the trail much to try to locate it.

Blue Ridge section is interesting, it's a shame you have the city view in this segment.

Wanted to check out the Cave Trail again, and view the needle. We decided to make a Balloon out of it. Wanted to avoid the Siphon Draw (I hate that hike) so headed up via the Cave route, so much better views.. A bit more work, but well worth it. We also headed out to the tree at the point in all the photos, and were planning on hitting Fremont Saddle and heading over to the Crosscut trail. Going back from the point I noticed a thin trail that looked like it might allow us to avoid backtracking to get to the trail to the crosscut. Sure enough, it drops down just after the saddle (Fine with me to avoid folks) and off to the cross cut we went.

Initial start on the crosscut section is a little rough, trail is not well marked, but after a little bit a thin trail appears, and it gets easier to follow. Once on the Terrapin intersection it's pretty straight forward. I really like this variation/hike. although there are some sections where the trail gets a little thin, we were able to follow the trail for probably about 95% of the time with the assistance of the GPS. I'll upload the track if anyone wants to follow it. I think this is one of the better hikes in this area, and the extra bonus is that you can avoid the crowds for a good percentage of the hike.

Actually this hike was intended to go up Hill 2685, but we created a balloon hike. Started from Idaho road, headed West then North towards the Mask then headed east until we hit Trail 308, then passed Hill 2685. Didn't see any trails going up the hill, so decided not to do it.

We were able to stay on trails for most of the hike except the south bound leg of the loop.

We started off at the Medicine Wheel trailhead and took the trail heading east. Have not been able to find the name of this trail on HAZ, but I did notice the Topo on this site list it as Goldlink. This goes 2.9 miles east until it intersects with the Deer Tanks Trail.

This trail quality is exceptional considering that this is not a high traffic area. It's a shame it is bordering private land, so the south view is just of the city. Deer Tanks Trail has some good views and starts getting into the Goldfields. Hanvent had a chance to check out the hikes in the Deer Tanks area of the Goldfields, my GPS Topo maps don't show much(Including Deer Tanks), but I noticed the HAZ topos have this and other identified, so I'll investigate these soon.

We hadn't don this hike since 2018, so decided we would go back to it. It is a nice hike, but you need to go during a weekday, first thing in the morning to avoid crowds. This was the day after the snow in the higher regions, so 4 peaks had a nice dusting of snow that made for some great photos.

Well, initially we were planning on hiking the Newman peak, but knowing my wife, I had a "plan B" in the pocket just in case. We did have trouble getting to the trailhead; we took the E. Houser/Bradly Pump Road route, but when you have to turn off the main road(paved) since there is a gate to continue on the dirt road, shortly after there is a bit of a drop, and my wife stated that we were NOT going down that! She is a bit overly conservative when it comes to off road driving, and off route hiking.. I think the initial road may have been washed out a bit since the last reports of the road condition, so I wouldn't try it in any car, maybe a truck... We were in our 4WD 4Runner, so I know we could have made it, but not interested in making her mad.. Just happy she is willing to hike with me on the reasonable hikes, so we decided to do the Petroglyph sites. I had purchased the permit ahead of time in preparation.

Drive to the sites is reasonable, but it is sandy in some places; we never needed the 4WD, but it's important to keep a good speed (20-25mph) through the sandy sections so you don't loose momentum; especially in a normal car.

Enjoyed the walk about, and exploring the petroglyphs. Just posting the better ones here. If you want all 59 photos, you can go to my webpage:

Decided to try to re-enforce cairns on trail and record a good GPS track for others to follow. This was successful for the most part. The uploaded GPS track should be easy to follow, 95% of this trail is easily identified with many cairns with the exception of the segment shortly after heart rock (waypoint POI: Heart Rock)between the 2nd peak - after the saddle and the third peak - about 500 ft (the original GPS track does not go to the third peak). This section works it's way up the side of the mountain, and we were not sure we were on the trail, or if one exists in this section. This uncertain section is marked as waypoint POI:LFP-01 to waypoint INT:LFP-004. Once on the ridgeline, there is more track and cairns easily followed for the rest of the hike.

So at this point I don't think I would consider this hike an off trail hike anymore, and would rate track following difficulty between 2.5 - 3.0

This is one I have been wanting to check out. First 3.5 miles of this route is on trail and easy enough to follow, but the last 1.5 miles to the Razorback is completely off-trail and a scramble., I ran across only a couple of cairns so if you don't have a GPS track, there is no indication as to what path to go (cause there isn't one :) ).

Views from the peak were spectacular, and Golden Dome(?) was looked enticingly close, but not sure if I'm in shape enough to make it there, and haven't been able to locate any trail descriptions on how to get there. So for now that remains a pipe dream.

Clouds this morning, so we thought we might get some good sunrise photos on the Little Four Peaks hike. Was not disappointed. I said this before, and will repeat... I think this hike probably gives the best views in the shortest hike of any I know.

This time we were able to follow about 95% of the trail by following the cairns. Seems that someone has been adding and re-enforcing them. We did some also, but there is still some room for improvements... Hopefully we can get back there in the next couple of weeks and fill in the gaps. If you havn't done this hike yet... DO IT.

This is an undiscovered gem of the Goldfields/Superstitions. We have never encountered anyone on this hike (yet)....
Not going to post the GPS for this trail yet, want to wrap up the cairns, then I'll post it.
