Hiked up to Timberline Trail via Vista Ridge Trail, then followed the route up to Barrett Spur and looped back down via Dollar Lake. Beautiful clear day, perfect temperature. Not too crowded for a Sunday. Route to Barrett Spur was easy to follow, wind at the top was pretty fierce- but eventually died down. Sat at the top for a while listening to rock and ice fall and soaking up the views.
Beautiful hike that has been on my to-do list for the last year. Starts out hiking through burnt forest from the Dollar Lake fire several years ago. You can see Mt. Hood in the distance through the trees, but you can't quite get a clear view as the trees are just a little bit too thick. Once on the Timberline Trail you are treated to fantastic views of the Mountain and several gorgeous meadows and small streams. Mt Adams, St. Helens, and Rainier were visible off to the north. Multiple large patches of snow remain, however I only had 1 section where I lost the trail for a short ways. Stopped to visit Dollar Lake on the return hike.
