After a long and inexcusable hiatus from hiking, Mary and I decided it was time to hit the trail again on a regular basis. We started out with this pleasant stroll along the Anasazi Loop on Campbell Mesa. The weather was perfect with plenty of clouds and a cool breeze. We spotted a Stellar's Jay, just close enough to watch and enjoy and just too far away for a picture.

Wow, fall temperatures hit Flagstaff hard. I think it was 25 degrees cooler than the last visit just 2-3 weeks back. Nighttime temps dropped below freezing if you factor in the windchill. It made for nice hiking weather though during the day. Finished hiking tonight at 40 degrees right at sunset. Glad to finally have thawed out again.

Got AZT#32 wrapped up and a good start on #34.

Loop with AZT #31 and AZT#33.

Campbell-Mesa Trail wins the vote for best hiking surface. The trail is practically manicured in spots.

Some idiot stole the giant AZT sign at the trailhead that is 1.7 miles west of the entrance to Walnut Canyon National Monument.

This was day 1 of our Flagstaff weekend. My girlfriend really likes riding out here. We timed it just right as the downpour came just as we left.

Joined LL for some easy mountain biking. These trails are perfect for a beginner, or anyone looking just to have an easy day of fun. 8) Looking forward to exploring more of this trail system in the future.

Was looking to ride bikes in some cooler weather. Loaded up the truck and headed to Campbell mesa. I have ridden here before and my girlfriend really likes it so that was our destination. Was actually less busy than the last time, mostly trail runners. It was overcast wich made it nice. Completedall but the walnut loop before heading off to s scenic drive up eldon and then some burgers at Bun Huggers.

Before leaving Flag, I had the opportunity to run with some of the best middle distance runners in the country. Let's just say I could barely keep up with the girls.

I wanted to do Elden, but my broken body from Agassiz couldn't take it, so I went out here and did the shortest loop in the system. I got a look at the burn from a few weeks back and I enjoyed the views of the big storm clouds to the east. It was a nice hot (record breaking) 90 degrees and this was a good way to kill a little time before heading back to Scott's to grill a huge amount of meat and drink a lot of beer.

Did some geocaching in the area and had a great hike. I bushwhacked all over the mesa, crossing and following many of the trails. Lots of great scenery and evidence of deer and elk.

A short mountain bike ride on the Anasazi Loop before work. I was having blast until I wrecked. Got a few scrapes and bruises, but I also bent my handle bars :( . I think I might keep my bike on the road and use my feet on the trails for the time being.

My plan last night was to get up early and do Elden. When I got up this morning I was not very stoked on Elden so I decided to take a little stroll up on Campbell Mesa. It turned out to be the perfect morning to Campbell Mesa, and the best experience I've had there. The pictures don't really do justice either. It rained last night so there were some nice fluffy clouds lingering, with an especially nice lens shaped one over Elden (it wasn't a good morning to do Elden anyway). The trail was still damp from the rain, and the grass was sprinkled with dew. I took my time and barely worked up a sweat because it was such a very pleasant morning on Campbell Mesa.

I aggravated a past knee injury last week after hiking 26 miles in three days so I wanted to do something real easy to test the knee out. A couple weeks ago my mom mentioned wanting to check out Campbell Mesa so this was a good opportunity. Just did the Continental Loop that borders the edge of the mesa. The neighborhood below was kind of noisy today but there were some nice wildflowers, though not as many as I was expecting. Wanted to get some pictures of the area for the website but when I got out there my battery was dead! Maybe next time.

My girlfriend and I had done the Continental Loop the day before, so we cruised around the Anasazi Loop. Can't wait to go back during the monsoons when the wildflowers are blooming!

My first hike in a long time. My girlfriend and I did the quick and easy Continental Loop to ease into the routine. Nice rolling terrain.
