| no partners | | I've been working on a mountain bike route to Ash Fork from Williams. This is part of it. There are other routes, according to the ATV crowd, further to the north. This route would include the Johnson Canyon Railway Tunnel. So far I've done a few short sections. Here's another one: http://hikearizona.com/photoset=31281
I stopped for a snack at Cataract Lake on my way back. I rode across the dam and sat on it to enjoy the view. It's an earthen dam and not one of those Homeland Security-protected ones. Very small lake, too small for kayaking. A fisherman told me that someone had caught a small smallmouth bass that day, not worth keeping. Small lake, small mouths, small fish.
I got a flat tire in town, and caught a ride home. Found out that True Value is the only place in town that carries bicycle tubes, according to the neighbor who took me and my bike home in his pickup truck. I had gotten very tired of walking in my bicycle shoes. Yes, I wear those things. And yes, I did try to fix the flat, I had a patch kit with me but the break in the tube was right by the valve stem, so the patch didn't hold, and it was flat again after one block. Normally I carry a couple of spare tubes. |
