First hike for me in AZ in a week. Started from Warpaint, up Corona East, west on National to Corona, then down Corona. Noticed one of the big saguaros on Corona fell recently. Warm, but not terrible. Not many people out until the last half mile or so. Good workout, and good to chat with Denny again after a two week hiatus.

[*]It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve done a Arizona hike. Linda was nice enough to let me join her and drag me up a mountain. Early start kept it bearable. Good to catch up and chit chat about our out of state adventures. 😳😁. Thanks Linda, good to catch up!

Started from Warpaint at 5:00. Up Corona East, down Corona. Slightly cooler than I thought it would be. Didn’t see anyone until we were coming down Corona. Lots of cicadas.

Started from Warpaint at 5:00, great temps to start. Headed up Corona East, seeing one Speckled Rattler along the way. I may have been accused of planting it there... At the top, headed west on National, then down Corona. Still pretty nice temps on the way down, very pleasant for June. Only saw a few people along Desert Classic, everywhere else was deserted. Great hike, thanks for joining me, Denny!

Up the never-ending uphill of Corona East, down Corona. It seems like whatever trail maintenance they keep doing on Corona just makes it more gravelly with worse footing. The high clouds for the last mile or two were nice. Denny said he internalized most of his whining today. I made up it for it though, especially on the way up Corona East. Nice hike!

A mid morning hike with Linda. Definitely like doing this one counter clockwise. A surprise overcast sky made this one pretty comfortable. Thanks for the hike Linda, you rock!

Did the loop counterclockwise. Nice evening. Lots of warmer weather creepy crawlies out. About time to retire my favorite pair of Salomons to less steep hikes, I felt like I was going to slide down half of Corona.

Started up Geronimo just before sunrise. Brisk! Didn't warm up until ascending Corona de Loma. Still lots of snow on the surrounding mountains. Great day for a hike. :)

Started from Warpaint in a light rain just after 7:30. We were the only two cars there—can’t imagine why. Headed up Corona East; pretty good footing despite the wet rocks. It had stopped raining by the time we reached National, but was breezier. Started down Corona, and when we reached the wash, we headed west and followed it to just shy of reaching the road to the TV towers. From there, we turned south and headed up to the ridge, where I had promised Denny there would be a trail up to the Gila parking lot. Yes, the trail was there. The winds were howling up on the ridge, so we only stopped at the parking lot for a minute or two. We had considered taking the ridge east all the way back to Corona, but with the cold wind, we decided to save that for another day, so we headed back down to the wash. The wash was very fun—I need to bring my kids up there soon—and it holds water in a few places long enough to grow a decent amount of algae. Once back on Corona, we headed back down, with the winds mercifully lessening as we descended. Only saw one other person at the trailhead as we finished. Great hike & company!

I met Linda around 7:30 for another South Mountain adventure. We did the Corona Loop with an added out and back in a cool wash all the way to the Gila parking area. Even with the morning rain I think it was pretty good weather compared to the rest of the day. Good times. Thanks for the hike Linda. Like HAZ you rock !

After last nights artic 😳 wind I was worried. Turned out to be fine with 2 shirts. Met Linda around 730 this morning. We did the hike counter clockwise. I think first time going counter for me. I liked it better then I thought. Nice morning hike. Thanks for the hike Linda, enjoyable as always. 😁
