Stellar views 360° views and a fun alternative to take in the splendor of the peaks and surrounding area.

Beautiful sunny day but absolutely nasty relentless wind that only seemed to worsen as the day went on but what can you expect on barren hills with little to no standing trees.

Shared the mountain with a herd of mule deer doe’s and also came across a elk cow and calf galloping across the basin.

Hiked up and down to the spot I liked twice so I could get some temporary refuge in my truck and refueled down below before an attempt at sunset photos.

So I had just left ABJL and wanted to bag the two listofjohn (pay $ite) peaks in the White Horse Hills. I got about 2/3 of the way to the first summit and some pitch black clouds were rolling in behind the summit. With the WHH being so denuded of trees due to fire and deadfall, I decided since those hills had been there for millions of years, and I have about 40 years left, that there's still time for me to come back when lightning is not potentially in play.

I did see either a horse or deer carcass. Ew.

This has been in the back of my mind for a while. With the Schultz Fire Closure and Elden out of the picture, I had good reason to hike it since I had relatively limited time today. It was a neat little hike. Good views and a pretty area. It might be a little more enjoyable in monsoon season when all the flowers on the hills are blooming, but it was still great. I was surprised to find a stream flowing out of the hills. I had crossed the little valley further up, so it must be coming from a pretty good spring. Worth a look if in the area.

Hiked from FR418 north to the 9065 ft highpoint. Scenic and steep, but with great views of the backside of the peaks.

My dad got me up early and introduced me to the White Horse Hills. It was a gorgeous morning and I got some good quality time with my padre. Also took a nice little detour down Hart Prairie Road.
