I decided to hike up the back way to Bell Pass from Fountain Hills, which is a hike that I have done many times. This time I also decided to hike up to Peak 3515, which is SSE of Bell Pass.

It was a great day to be out hiking -- it was a sunny day with temperatures in the upper 50's. It was windy when I got up to Bell Pass, so I added a layer before heading up to Peak 3515. There is a very well defined social trail from Bell Pass up to Peak 3515, so I followed it as I ascended. The social trail made a sharp turn to the right at one point, and I followed it even though it looked like the best way to go was to continue straight uphill. In retrospect, I should have continued straight uphill.

I followed the social trail for a bit, and then decided to head up toward the summit -- doing so was a bit steep, but I made it up to a ridgeline that was northeast of the summit. To get to the summit required a bit of boulder hopping, a section of which was a bit of a knife edge. It wasn't too bad and was kind of fun, although the wind was blowing like crazy. There were nice views at the summit, but with the cold wind blowing I didn't hang around too long.

I enjoyed the hike, and going up to Peak 3515 was a nice twist to the hike!

Quick morning hike just to get some miles in. Started from the Gateway TH and made a clockwise loop with a quick summit of 3515. I returned on the Equestrian Bypass Trail and this is a great way to avoid the busy part of the Gateway TH. I'll use this on all future hikes in this area.

Picked up the Turtle from his mansion before day break so we could get an early start. We arrived at the Gateway Trailhead a couple minutes before the gate opened. We kept a good pace up to Bell Pass, took a 20 second break then headed up to the peak.

There is a use trail that we followed about 2/3 of the way up. The views from the top are nice. The air being pretty clear. Made our way down and back to the trailhead at about 0645.

The humidity is a little higher than it has been. We talked about backpacking in WY, chips, and slot canyons. Good hike. Thanks Denny! :)

I told LP I was still hurting and he said be on the curb at 4:15. He hadn't done this little Peak before so I gave in. He took it easy on me and it turned out to be a nice hike. Always entertaining. Thanks to John for the hike and driving.

Quick morning hike on the day after Thanksgiving. I was a little sluggish after the feast the day before. Most of this hike is kind of dull. The off trail portion to 3515 was a lot of fun and I would definitely hike this again. Good times and I was done before noon.

Hypothetical question ;)..... Would you go hiking while your spouse was in surgery?

I've been trading text messages with Hippy and we've been trying to hike together for a couple weeks. I got a warning text from Chums to bring headphones :) . It was a fun time and she only called me elderly a couple times. We talked about 8-tracks and past hikes and future ideas. I explained to her what betamax was and why vhs won out. She did a few cartwheels and no rocks were harmed in anyway. We shared a few bowling ball stories.... mine about the ridgeline and both ridgeline girls ran by us it was  although I didn't realize it was them at the time... what are the odds. When we got to the TH a worried mom asked if we had seen her son. We hadn't and I told her she should go to the Gateway TH and talk to a steward there. Hopefully, he was just running late

After ages of chattin' with the Destroyer of Cairns via PM and text I finally got to hike with him! I even witnessed an infamous destroying of a useless cairn, and likewise he got to photograph a precariously performed cartwheel.
Over all an enjoyable experience for us both I think, even WITHOUT headphones! [-( :D

The conversation flow is the best I've had in a long time, no offense to everyone else but our stories went from arm transplants to blood donating to medical marvels, VHS and betamax, then somehow into the best spills we've taken ontrail and eventually we ended up talking somewhere around Supes Search and Rescue and how we'd both rather have WSAR come out and find us  Thanks Bob!

Fun afternoon in the McD's. I took the direct route up Thompson hitting 2 peaks and 3 subpeaks on the way. Went up by the stock scam mine and saw a date in concrete of July 30, 1917. The scam was discovered in the 1920's...I think it started in the late 1890's. Saw another mine/dig on one of the sub peaks. Lots of :pk: on every saddle some had scratch marks next to it and some was covered where the scratch marks were. It was good to get this done heading up. I've taken the route down a few times.
